RINL, the corporate entity of Visakhapatnam Steel Plant observed “Vigilance Awareness Week” from 31st October to 5th November’2016. Every year, as per the directives of CVC, RINL is observing this week with an aim to create awareness among the employees to prevent corruption and to enhance corporate governance in a transparent manner. Sri C Rajendiran, IRS, Chief Commissioner, Central Excise, Customs and Service Tax, Visakhapatnam, was the Chief Guest at the valedictory function of “Vigilance Awareness Week 2016” in Visakhapatnam Steel Plant today. Addressing the gathering, Sri Rajendiran highlighted the need to imbibe ethical values and develop systems in a transparent  way to eliminate corruption. There is every need to propagate  honesty and integrity in the  day to day work, he said. Mind plays a vital role in enhancing the integrity, and largely contribute to cleanse the society. Purity of mind is every thing to achieve the goals, he added. Termed Vizag Steel as a pride of the country and is a “Raja” of the industry, he concluded.Sri P Madhusudan, CMD, RINL said that  vigilance plays a crucial role in eradicating corruption.  Systems and procedures would  be framed in an integrated manner to achieve corruption free society. India being a powerful nation in the world, moral and ethical values play a important role in bringing transparency and enhance the image of the country. Sri Madhusudan said that decision making process has to be supported by the vigilance to achieve the set goals of the company to compete in the market. Sri B Siddhartha Kumar, IFS, CVO emphasized the need to focus on improving the Systems/Procedures aimed at eliminating the scope for corruption and also to achieve transparency and good governance. Ethics should be the integral part of life to eradicate corruption and preventive vigilance promotes a culture of integrity, accountability, he added. Sri PC Mohapatra, Director (Projects), Dr GBS Prasad, Director,(Personnel) - Sri P Raychaudhury, Director(Commercial), RINL were the other dignitaries on the dais. Earlier, messages of Hon’ble President of India, Hon’ble Prime Minister and Chief Vigilance Commissioner were read out on the occasion. During the Vigilance Awareness Week, presentation on “Role of youth in building honest society” was made for the students in the surrounding Professional Colleges and elocution competitions were held. Elocution, Quiz and Skit competitions were held covering the nearby schools. Slogan & Quiz competitions were conducted for the employees and their dependents. Further, a step towards paperless Office, On-line module for granting Vigilance Clearance to the employees was ported on RINL’s Intranet during the week. Dance performances by the children of Ukkunagaram and representatives of Women in Public Sector (WIPS) enthralled the audience. Mime performed by Mr Narendra Prasath and his team added glitter to the function. The dignitaries distributed prizes to the winners of various competitions organized during the week. Senior officers, representatives of Steel Executive Association, unions, SC&ST association, WIPS, Visteel Mahila Samiti and large number of school children participated enthusiastically.
