Chaudhary Birender Singh, Hon’ble Union Minister of Steel inaugurated a symposium on “Digital Economy for New India” organized by VSP today in Ukkunagaram. Addressing the participants, the Steel Minister highlighted the importance of digital economy in eradication of corruption and enhance transparency. He said that digital transactions would hasten the pace of development in the country. He observed that unless we take appropriate steps for the layman to understand the operations of digital transactions, the advantages of the cashless economy will not be able to reach the goal of the digital economy in the country.  The Hon’ble Steel Minister distributed POS machines on the occasion to several vendors. He also went round the exhibition stalls put up by several banks highlighting the digital economy for enabling cashless transaction among the general public. Sri P Madhusudan, CMD, RINL, Sri JA Chowdary, Information Technology Advisor to the Govt of Andhra Pradesh, Sri Saraswati Prasad, Additional Secretary & Financial Advisor, Sri  Srinivas, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Steel, Sri PC Mohapatra, Director (Projects), Sri DN Rao, Director (Operations), Sri P Raychaudhury, Director (Commercial), Sri KC Das, Director (Personnel) were present on the occasion. Representatives of various banks participated in the symposium.
