RINL, the corporate entity of Visakhapatnam Steel Plant joined the Nation in celebrating the “Father of the Nation”, Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti in Ukkunagaram on 2nd October with much enthusiasm. Sri P K Rath, CMD, RINL garlanded the statue of Mahatma Gandhi and paid rich tributes to Mahatma Gandhi in Ukkunagaram. Addressing the gathering, Sri P K Rath  recalled the  services, principles and the high moral values  of Mahatma Gandhi and said that his principle of non-violence is a unique tool with which he fought and won us Independence. Mahatma’s principle of cleanliness is the basis of overall improvement of the society as well as the nation, he added. He explained that the Swachata Bharat drive initiated by our Hon’ble PM which works on Gandhiji’s principle provides a hygienic environment and thus paves a path for clean thoughts. He also said that Gandhiji’s principle of business which emphasizes the importance of customer holds good forever in the business environment. He exhorted RINL collective to contribute for nation building by realizing the goals of the organization. As part of Sarvamatha Prardhana, special prayers were recited by members of all religions as a mark of respect to the Father of the Nation on the occasion. Sri P Raychaudhury Director (Commercial), Sri KC Das, Director (Personnel), Sri VV Venugopala  Rao, Director (Finance) also paid floral tributes o Mahatma Gandhi. Shri P K Rath distributed “Swachhta Puraskars” to various departments for their exemplary contribution to swachhta activities undertaken during the fortnight campaign. Donation of wheel chairs and adoptive devices under CSR To commemorate the occasion, CMD also distributed wheel chairs and adoptive devices to persons with Spinal Cord Injury (SCI) and Prosthetics, Orthotics, Spine Braces & Callipers to Amputees under CSR initiative of RINL. These devices will enable the beneficiaries to lead a better life. This project taken up through ‘The Ability People’ at an estimated cost of Rs.10 Lakhs will benefit a total of 60 persons, which include 38 persons with Spinal Cord Injury and 22 amputees. Senior officers of RINL, representatives of  SEA, union leaders SC&ST association, representatives of Women in Public Sector, school children and large number of employees participated.
