RINL-VSP celebrated the National Energy Conservation Day in Ukkunagaram today. To mark the occasion, events were conducted over a week to create awareness on energy conservation  in the plant operations.Sri P Raychaudhury, Director (Commercial), RINL was the chief guest at the valedictory function held today. Speaking on the occasion, Sri Raychaudhury exhorted the employees to practice  and inculcate the habit of conserving energy to reduce cost of production. RINL is making significant improvements in energy conservation and moving ahead in achieving the targets as energy conservation is one of the key parameters in steel making process, he mentioned.  He stated that Ministry of Steel appreciated RINL as a leader in energy conservation on setting up of a 120 MW gas based power plant, a unique feature in the Steel Industry. Sri VV Venugopala Rao, Director (Finance) RINL observed that energy  accounts for 53% in cost of production in the Steel industry and he stressed the need to conserve energy. He said that employees should focus on increasing efficiency in the operations. Sri OR Ramani, ED(Works) I/c, Sri Ramanujam, ED (Energy & Utilities) in their speech highlighted the importance of energy conservation in  steel making process. Sri SK Naik, DGM(Energy) welcomed the gathering. Later, the dignitaries distributed prizes to the winners of various competitions organized for the employees and school children to mark the occasion. Senior officials, representatives of Steel Executive Association, unions, SC&ST Association and a large number of employees and school children were participated.
