A mega walkathon called “Chalo Chalein” was organized by Arunodaya Special School in association with Friends of Arunodaya in Ukkunagaram today morning which attracted theattention of everyone in the green township.
Sri P Madhusudan, CMD, RINL flagged off the walkathon by releasing colourful balloons in the presence of Sri TK Chand, Director (Commercial), Sri PC Mohapatra, Director (Projects), Sri DN Rao, Director (Operations), Sri Umesh Chandra, Ex-Director (Operations) Sri GS Pandey, Senior Commandant, CISF and other senior officials of VSP. The walkathon flagged off from Arunodaya School to Trishna Grounds and back to Arunodaya School. It is worth to mention that all the dignitaries participated in the walkathon event with enthusiasm
Addressing the gathering, Sri P Madhusudan observed that the event is a new and innovative concept and aimed to sensitize and create awareness among children in regular schools regarding the need and importance to include special children with special needs in everyday activities through social and physical integration. He appreciated the Friends of Arunodaya and the other school children for their efforts to integrate the special children in the mega walkathon event. The event also aimed at recognize the talent and abilities in the special children, he added. Sri Madhusudan appreciated the Arunodaya School President, Smt Bindoo Mohapatra and the staff for conducting the event successfully.
Smt Gouri Annapurna, Honorary President, Smt Preeti Roy, President of Visteel Mahila Samiti,respectively, Smt Bindoo Mohapatra, Vice president of VMS, Smt Sushma Chowhan, ex Vice President of VMS, Smt Rajeswari, Principal of Arunodaya School and senior officials of VSP participated.
Around 400 children from 8 schools in the township participated in the walkathon.Later, the dignitaries distributed prizes to the winners of poster and songs competitions organized for the school children to mark the occasion.
