Visakhapatnam Steel Plant added another feather in its cap by commissioning a Convertor -3 in its new  Steel Melting Shop-2.  The Convertor-3 has a production capacity of  150 Tons of liquid steel per heat. This takes the overall plant capacity to  7.3 MTPA. It may be recalled that RINL has recently modernizes its Convertor -3 in SMS-1. Sri P Madhusudan, CMD, RINL inaugurated the facility and  congratulated SMS-2 collective for their notable performance and adherence to strict safety standards. Sri Madhusudan said that the commissioning of Convertor-3 in SMS-2 would further reduce pollution and also help in achieving greater productivity. Sri P C Mohapatra, Director (Projects), Sri P Raychaudhury, Director (Commercial) graced the function.   Executive Directors, Senior officers of VSP, Consultants, Union Representatives and construction agencies along with a large number of VSP employees were also present on this occasion. SMS Group is the supplier of Technology and the unit was built and commissioned by consortium partners M/s SMS Group, M/s SMS India and M/s Bridge & Roof, under consultancy of M/s MECON.
