RINL, the corporate entity of Visakhapatnam Steel Plant today joined the nation in celebrating the “World Environment Day” on a grand scale.
The day’s event commenced with Sri DN Rao, Director (Operations) RINL inaugurating an Environment Park which was built around this years theme ‘7 Billion Dreams, One Planet, Consume with care’. Following this event more than 500 trees were planted inside the plant premises and another 1500 trees were planted in township and on the main approach.
In the function organised at MP hall of Ukkunagaram, Sri R Lakshmi Narayana, Environment Engineer In-charge, Andhra Pradesh Pollution Control Board, the guest of Honour, spoke about the need for conservation of scare resources. He informed the various events organised by APPCB to highlight the need for Environment Protection. The dignitaries distributed prizes to the winners of Poster, Painting and Essay competitions organised as part of the World Environment Day celebration. 43 VSP employees were bestowed with Green awards for their contribution to betterment of Environment at Vizag Steel.
The Chief Guest Sri D N Rao, Director(Operations) spoke on the strategies that are to be adopted for resource conservation and exhorted all to make resource conservation a way of life.
Sri TVS Krishna Kumar, Director (Finance) RINL graced the occasion.
Sri SS Kumar, Executive Director (Works)I/C welcomed the gathering and enumerated the measures taken for protecting the environment at Vizag Steel.
