<p>World Environment Day was celebrated at the multipurpose hall of Ukkunagaram club of RINL, the corporate entity of Visakhapatnam steel plant, today.</p> <p>Speaking on the occasion, the chief guest of the program, Sri Atul Bhatt, CMD, RINL said that &ldquo;Environment protection runs in our blood and it is part of the business processes at RINL. It is everyone&rsquo;s responsibility to save our planet for future generations. All of us should come together to resolve this issue and make planet earth a greener, healthier and happier place to live&rdquo;, Sri Atul Bhatt said.</p> <p>Highlighting RINL&rsquo;s concerted efforts towards environment protection, Sri Atul Bhatt said that &ldquo;At RINL, we are giving utmost importance to Environment by implementing the latest clean &amp; green technologies and ensuring production with best Environmental control systems.</p> <p>&ldquo;In order to prevent soil erosion and conserve water, extensive rain harvesting is being practiced at RINL. During 2023-24 alone, RINL has saved more than 1025 Mega Gallons of water through various water saving schemes and rain water harvesting. Green cover is always maintained in and around the Visakhapatnam steel plant and about 5.5 Million trees have been planted since inception.&rdquo; Sri Atul Bhatt said.</p> <p>&ldquo;RINL has always emphasized environmental friendly practices and RINL is among the first Steel plants in India to be certified for ISO 14001 standard for Environment. In order to mitigate global warming &amp; conserve natural resources, number of clean technologies that utilise waste heat, waste gas, pressure energy, solid wastes and sludge have been adopted and RINL is a pioneer amongst steel plants in India in ensuring a clean and green environment.&rdquo;, Sri Atul Bhatt emphasized.</p>

RINL-VSP’s CISF unit celebrated “Van-Mahotsav” as part of CISF Golden Jubilee celebrations on 7th July,2018 in a befitting manner.

World Environment Day was celebrated  in  a big way at Vizag Steel. The month long events organised by Environment Management Department of Vizag Steel, culminated with a grand function held at TTI auditorium of the Steel Plant on 5th June,2018.

Sri A Sudhakar, Member Secretary, Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB)  called for  maintaining a good environment systems by industries that would help increase the life span and living standards of the people. He also advised to use of  technology in measuring  air quality in controlling pollution.

Sri NV Bhaskar Rao, Joint Chief Environmental Engineer , Andhra Pradesh Pollution Control Board was all praise for RINL for extensive green cover in and around the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant and lauded the pollution control measures and environment protection initiatives being implemented by the management and sustaining it for many years. He was the guest of the honour at the “World Environment Day” celebrations organized by VSP today in Ukkunagaram. The theme for this year is “Connecting people to Nature”.

Sri Anil Swarup, IAS, Secretary, Ministry of Coal, GOI  during his visit to Visakhapatnam today visited Visakhapatnam Steel Plant and held discussions with Sri P Madhusudan, CMD, RINL.

RINL, the corporate entity of Visakhapatnam Steel Plant today joined the nation in celebrating the “World Environment Day” on a grand scale.

Sri P Madhusudan, CMD, RINL led a team of Directors, union leaders etc in launching the revival of greenery at Vizag Steel today. Sri P Madhusudan planted saplings to replace the uprooted trees due to the Hudhud cyclone in VSP main approach road as part of revival plan of greenery in and around the plant and township premises.
