In a concerted move towards enhancing operational efficiency and reducing expenditure, the leadership of RINL, the corporate entity of Visakhapatnam Steel Plant, came together for a "Zero Demurrage Campaign" pledge on 02.09.2024.The Zero Demurrage pledge was organized at the ED (Works) Conference Hall under the leadership of Sri Atul Bhatt, CMD, RINL, along with Sri GVN Prasad, Director (Commercial), CGM(Works)-I/c, CGMs, Heads of Departments, senior officials and representatives of various trade unions. Sri Atul Bhatt, CMD, RINL launched Zero Demurrage Campaign as a first step towards cost reduction and achieving cash profit with increased production and efficiency.Recognizing the significant challenges and financial impacts associated with higher Rake Retention Time (RRT), the pledge was administered to reinforce the commitment of all participants for reducing RRT and achieving "ZERO DEMURRAGE." This initiative underscores the organization's resolve to enhance productivity, improve operational efficiency, and secure a brighter future for RINL-Visakhapatnam Steel Plant.

Higher rate of injection of Pulverised Coal in Blast Furnaces facilitates replacement of high cost Coke with lower cost Coal and thereby reduces the cost of production and also will help increase productivity of Blast Furnaces. In this direction RINL team has taken initiatives and put efforts to increase its PCI (Pulverised Coal Injection) rate from existing 100 kg/per ton of Hot Metal to around 180 kg/ton of hot metal in Blast Furnaces 1, 2 and 3. 

“RINL organises bicycle rally as a prelude to the World environment day celebrations“- Children are brand ambassadors of campaign towards Environment conservation- Sri AK Bagchi, Director (Projects) and additional charge Director (Operations), RINL, Visakhapatnam Steel Plant As part of commemorating the World Environment Day (5th June, 2024), Environment management department of RINL, the corporate entity of visakhapatnam steel plant organised a bicycle rally in association with the Sports department of RINL at Trishna Grounds of RINL, today. The chief guest of the program, Sri AK Bagchi, Director (Projects) and additional charge Director (Operations), RINL flagged off the bicycle at Trishna grounds. He administered the LIFE (Lifestyle for Environment) Pledge to all the participants that “everyone will make all possible changes in their daily life to protect the environment, and commit to continuously motivate their family, friends and others about the importance of environmentally friendly habit” evincing the love for the Nature & Environment More than a hundred children actively participated in the bicycle rally along with placards displaying captions like " Land Restoration " & " Save Mother Earth" in the rally of around 4 kms in the ukkunagaram township of Visakhapatnam steel plant

Shri Chaluvadi Sree Rama Venkata Gopala Krishna Ganesh assumed charge as the Director (Finance) at RINL on 03.04.2024.Presently, Sri Ganesh is working as General Manager (F&A) at RINL.

RINL celebrated World Water Day on 22 March 2024.As part of the World Water Day, several employees of water management department, employees from other departments and contract workers formed human chain at the main gate with water saving slogan and placards. The main function was organised at the Main conference hall of ED (Works) building of RINL chaired by Sri AK Sobti, CGM (works)- I/C, RINL. Vijaya Bhaskar of IIM, Visakhapatnam on World water day theme “Water for Peace”.

This has reference to recent publication of some news items by the media based on the claims made by certain trade unions. This is to inform you that: -RINL is having a robust and transparent procurement policy and Quality control system.RINL products are known for its highest quality in both domestic and export market due to its stringent quality checks at each stages of its manufacturing process. In order for RINL to turnaround and start generating cash profits, it is imperative that RINL’s production matches its installed capacity.

RINL observed National Energy Conservation Day today at a program organized at Dr. Tenneti Viswanatham auditorium of learning and development center of Visakhapatnam steel plant.The programe was inaugurated by Sri AK Bagchi, Director (Projects) and additional charge Director (Operations), RINL alongwith Sri NV Swamy, CGM(Works)-Incharge and other senior officials of RINL. A traditional welcome dance by the budding children and a skit by 2 young children highlighting the importance of energy conservation enthralled the audience. Speaking on the occasion, the chief guest Sri AK Bagchi, Director (Projects) and additional charge Director (Operations), RINL advised employees to optimize operations and operate all facilities at rated capacity to reduce energy consumption and cost. Sri Baghchi lauded Energy Management department collective for conducting an extensive energy conservation awareness campaign amongst all departments and schools through various programs from 1st to 14th December, 2023.

It was a historic moment in the annals of RINL with Blast Furnace -2 (KRISHNA) crossing the Glorious Milestone of 50 Million tons of Hot Metal production, since inception.The Blast Furnace -2 (BF-2) which was commissioned on 21.03.1992 achieved this significant milestone on 25th October, 2023 night. At a simple function held in the control room of Blast Furnace-2 to celebrate the occasion, Sri Atul Bhatt, CMD, RINL congratulated the entire Blast furnace team and the RINL collective on this momentous occasion.“It is with great pleasure and admiration that I extend my heartfelt congratulations to you, the entire RINL workforce, and the remarkable Blast Furnace team on the historic achievement of Blast Furnace-2 (KRISHNA) reaching the monumental milestone of producing 50 million tons of Hot Metal.”, Sri Atul Bhatt, said.

The cumulative sale of WRC(wire rod coils) of 3,64,000 tons, Structural Sales of 2,23,000 tons and Value added steel (VAS) Sales 6,82,000 achieved during the first half of the current financial year(Apr-Sept 2023-24) are the best sales performance achieved for any H-1(April-September period), since inception. During the current H1 (Apr-Sept 2023-24FY), RINL has achieved a sales volume of 1.95 Million tons & a sales turnover of Rs.10,780 Cr in finished steel which registered an impressive growth of  40% & 25% respectively, over CPLY (Apr-Sept 2022-23)

“Let’s take the challenges ahead of us as opportunities and work together to make RINL the pride of the country”- Sri Atul Bhatt, CMD, RINL   The RINL-Visakhapatnam steel plant joined the Nation in celebrating the 77th Independence Day with patriotic fervour and gaiety at RINL.  Sri Atul Bhatt, CMD, RINL hoisted the National Flag and took the salute accorded by the CISF Jawans at the sprawling Trishna Grounds in the Ukkunagaram, today. Addressing the employees and their family members on the occasion, Sri Atul Bhatt extended his warm Independence Day greetings to all the employees of RINL, their family members, to the members of CISF, Home Guards and Principals, Teachers and students of different schools, Suppliers, Customers, Partners, Stakeholders and each one of our well-wishers who have been associated with RINL in its long journey. Speaking on the occasion, Sri Atul Bhatt, CMD, RINL said that given the background of global and domestic steel demand, RINL is firmly on the path of recovery and during the period, RINL concentrated on re-orientation of strategies to optimize product mix and concentrate on niche markets and high-end value-added products. RINL made remarkable strides with some significant achievements. 

    With perseverance and charged with a passion to excel, the RINL , Visakhapatnam Steel Plant collective have created yet another record by achieving a daily Hot Metal production of 16,250 Tons on 20th January, 2023 from Blast Furnace 1 and 2 together which is also the best daily production from both Blast Furnaces 1& 2 combined, since inception. (More than 100% capacity utilisation).    

Sri. Atul Bhatt, CMD, RINL , Chief Mentor (Kalpataru) and Sri Arvind Kumar, Director General, STPI (Software Technology Park of India) and Chairman STPINEXT have done the honor of soft launching of the prestigious Centre of Entrepreneurship (CoE) on Industry 4.0 (Kalpataru) and OCP-1 (Open Challenge program-1) virtually, today.In the first phase of this activity, RINL shared few problem statements (challenges pertaining to RINL’s production area) which are available in the website (https:\\Kalpataru.stpi.in) and through this OCP program the start-ups will be selected to work in Kalpataru Project. In his key note address, Sri Arvind Kumar expressed that in this CoE all the domains of Engineering with the knowledge of Artificial Intelligence are required as against the common notion of only Computer Science and related graduates to work on Industry 4.0. Further he mentioned that Kalapatru will be the mother of all 20 STPI CoEs across India and it will drive all other CoEs.

As part of the continuous initiatives being taken by RINL-Visakhapatnam Steel Plant to inculcate a culture of Safety among all the stakeholders including Employees and Contract Workmen, RINL has launched a campaign with the motto ‘Safety Is My Responsibility’ as part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav Celebrations.Sri A. K Saxena, Director (Operations), RINL launched the campaign today by pasting stickers of ‘Safety is my Responsibility’ on the helmet of the youngest employee of RINL, Mr. K Rajababu, Field Assistant,SMS-1 Dept., in presence of Sri Abhijit Chakraborty ,CGM(Works)-I/c,  Chief General Managers and HODs of the plant. Badges with the message ‘Safety is my Responsibility’ were also pinned on the pockets of all CGMs of work division also, as part of the launch event.    

Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited (RINL), Visakhapatnam Steel Plant conducted a Plant Level Mock Drill today on 23.06.2022 to test the On-Site Emergency Preparedness at an imaginary fire at Final Gas Cooler - 3 area of Coke oven and Coal Chemical Plant Dept , in which the  emergency services like  CISF Fire wing, Medical services, Gas Safety, Maintenance, safety department, Environment Management Dept, CISF (Security), HR dept etc have participated. During the Mock Drill, the fixed and mobile fire fighting installations such as High range fire monitor systems, Foam Flooding systems, Fire Tenders etc were put in operation and other communication facilities like Emergency Manual Call Point and siren system were used.

Coke Oven and Coal Chemical Plant (CO &CCP) department of RINL-VSP achieved a mile stone of 3 Million Oven Pushings since inception.  

RINL- VSP celebrated the “International Women’s Day” at L&DC auditorium in Ukkunagaram today. Sri Atul Bhatt, CMD,RINL was the Chief Guest and Ms. Aarti Saxena,IRS,Addl. Commissioner, Customs Dept., Visakhapatnam, was the distinguished Guest speaker.  

Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited-Visakhapatnam Steel plant (RINL-VSP) is declared as the winner of Greentech Corporate Governance Award 2022.

International Awards:Shri Atul Bhatt, CMD-RINL, felicitated the International Award Winners of ICQCC-2021.  The International Convention on Quality Control Circles (ICQCC-2021) was held this year in India at Hyderabad in Nov, 2021 Under the aegis of “Quality Circle Forum of India(QCFI)”.

RINL-Visakhapatnam Steel Plant observed the 51st National Safety Day today. To mark the occasion, a function was organized at  Learning and Development Centre (L&D Centre) auditorium of VSP today. The theme of 51st National Safety Day is “Nurture young minds - Develop safety culture”.

Shri. Ram Chandra Prasad Singh, Hon’ble Minister of Steel gave  “Ispat Rajbhasha Sammaan” awards to RINL. Sri Atul Bhatt, CMD, RINL-VSP  & Sri DK Mohanty, D (C) & D (P) Addl. Charge, RINL-VSP received the awards at  Hindi Advisory Committee meeting  of the Ministry of Steel, which was held at Madurai, Tamil Nadu
