Women in Public Sector (WIPS) in association with Visteel Mahila Samiti (VMS) organized a one day workshop for women on “Sustainable Community Development for Women and girl children” in Ukkunagaram today as a part of RINL-CSR initiative. The workshop, first of its kind in Visakhapatnam, is aimed at exchanging views on betterment of women and girl children around the public sector units located in  Visakhapatnam on the occasion of International Women’s Day.Sri KC Das, Director (Personnel) RINL-VSP  was the chief guest. Sri RP Srivatsav, Executive Director (Corporate Services), VSP was the guest of honour. Addressing the participants, Sri KC Das underscored the need to promote gender equality, women empowerment and also to reduce  infant mortality in the society for betterment of women and girl children. He called for a radical change in the mindset of women for achieving success while facing challenges and opined that women  should give impetus to increasing the literacy rate for sustainable development. He hoped that the workshop would come out with useful deliberations for socio-economic development of women in the society. Welcoming the participants, Smt Bindoo Mohapatra, President, Visteel Mahila Samiti observed that women should get equal opportunities on par with men and that modern women are  competent and facing  challenges and coming out with success. They are playing a vital role in the community development, she added. Women representatives from Indian Navy, Naval Dockyard, Visakhapatnam Steel Plant, NTPC, HPCL, Powergrid, BHEL, DCI, Eco Railway, AP Transco, Women & Child Development, GoAP  took part and deliberated in the workshop. Smt V Padmavati, DGM(HR) & Co-Ordinator, WIPS conducted the proceedings. Smt DVP Saroja, Smt Ratna Ray Chaudhury, Vice Presidents,  and the representatives of VMS participated. Smt Sheeba Rani, General Secretary, Smt N Bhanu, Alternative Co - ordinator and other representatives of WIPS present on the occasion. The participants were full of high praise for WIPS and VMS for conducting  the workshop aimed at empowerment of women and girl children.
